Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Biostatistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related degree AND three years of post-degree professional research experience in the appropriate field; OR a Master’s degree in one of the above fields and two years of such experience in the appropriate field; OR a Doctorate in the appropriate field.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred qualifications are: analytic experience in epidemiology, biostatistics, economics or a related field; knowledge of health care quality measurement; proficiency in advanced statistical analysis and summary report generating functionality such as macros, SQL, and ODS; the ability to develop and document reliable and replicable data processing procedures; excellent writing and presentation skills; the ability to present and explain complex information and prepare manuscript for publications; experience with project management; advanced experience in Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau, Crystal Reports or other similar report generating products.
Duties Description Under the direction of higher-level research staff in DMAR, the Research Scientist 2 will perform a broad range of analytical and research activities including: problem definition and literature reviews, database management and quality assurance; conduct statistical analysis and develop summary reports and managers’ dashboard for monitoring health care services availability, quality of care metrics, surveillance workloads and budgets, and fiscal health and utilization of healthcare facilities; develop methodologies for record linkage, data de-identification, suppression and redaction; and summarize research findings and prepare reports and manuscripts for publication. The incumbent will conduct a research project to evaluate the effectiveness of the long-term care facility enforcement program on the quality of care; collaborate with other research scientists and analytical staff on all phases of research and contribute to healthcare policy recommendations and healthcare transformations based on applied research findings; and supervise junior staff to conduct data quality control, statistical analysis and reports generation for nursing home weekly bed census project and respond to regular/ad hoc data requests including time-sensitive COVID-19 related data requests
