Duties Description The Office Assistant 1, Grade 6, will work in the Long Island Office and perform duties that include, but are not limited to:
• Answering questions from various parties regarding agency activities, transactions, and procedures.
• Referring inquiries as necessary.
• Answering phones and assisting or referring callers as needed.
• Maintaining basic financial, accounting, and/or statistical records.
• Contacting various internal and external parties to obtain information, as needed.
• Assisting in gathering or compiling data for reports, graphs, charts, tables, or other products.
• Receiving, screening, reviewing, and verifying the content of forms, applications, claims, and other documents for completeness and accuracy.
• Receiving, picking up, delivering, opening, recording, sorting, and distributing mail, email or other forms of correspondence or communications, as well as goods and materials.
• Maintaining files, correspondences, documents, records, and materials and storing pursuant to guidelines.
• Tracking physical inventory and maintaining perpetual inventory records.
• Entering data and information into and receiving data and information from computerized systems.
• Verifying data previously transcribed or entered to detect errors.
• Performing various clerical or office assistant tasks such as copying and/or scanning documents and verifying accuracy of data.
• Assisting with special projects as needed.
