Duties Description The Legislative Coordinator will support legislative initiatives, community outreach, and communication efforts for a New York State Assembly Member. Based in South Ozone Park and Albany, this full-time role includes conducting legislative research, building community partnerships, coordinating events, and managing clear and effective communication with constituents and stakeholders. Additional responsibilities include overseeing the office’s communication channels, weekly newsletter, social media, and administrative duties. The role also includes maintaining the legislative bank, managing
calendar and meeting requests with the Scheduling Team in Albany, and supervising 1-2 interns annually.
Supervision:
? Reports to the Assembly Member for all Legislative Matters.
? Reports to the District Director for all District Matters.
Position Level: Mid-level; prior legislative, community engagement, or communications experience is required.
Work Schedule: A 1-hour mandatory wellness period per shift is included.
? Legislative Period (January – June): Based in Albany (50% of the year)
? Travel Day: 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm (for Albany travel days)
? Community Period (July – December): Based in the district (50% of the year), focusing on legislative outreach, event planning, and office capacity building.
? Travel Day: 11:00 am – 7:00 pm (for district travel days)
Minimum Qualifications Preferred Qualifications
? Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Law, or a related field.
? Strong understanding of New York State legislative processes and local government.
? Excellent communication, writing, research, and analytical skills.
? Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
? Experience in community outreach, event planning, and office administration.
? Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
